Nice Cordless Saw
I recently picked up a refurbished verion of this saw and have been very happy with it. It doesn't spin as fast as a corded saw, but that also means it is quieter and it has been great not having to deal with dragging a cord around my panels or to my cutting area. It has had plenty of power to cut 2x boards, plywood, and OSB - at least at the speed I am pushing it. The thumb actuated safety is a little annoying (isn't that what the guard is there for?) but you get used to it easily enough and it is ambidextrous. It came with a new blade and the unit looked very good without any cosmetic blemishes. I haven't used the adjustments for cutting angle yet but they look to be as good or better than any contemporary model. I only use the saw for projects at home, so I can't really speak to battery life or speed like a professional carpenter could, but so far so good.

Good Tool
Added this to my list of tools. This tool is only powered using the XC bat so you must have that to use it or buy one.

Excellent Tool
Bought this to replace a 20 year old corded saw that died. Love the portability and the saw has plenty of power to cut sheet goods up to rips in 3/4 PT plywood, and precision to make delicate cuts in hardwoods for the cabinet and furniture making I do as a hobby. I decided to purchase this as I already own two other M18 tools and it seemed a natural fit. The blade that comes with the saw is adequate for rough cuts, but I did purchase two better quality blades for fine work.

Nice tool
I replaced a 30+ year old Black and Decker circular saw with this and a another brand corded saw for the work I do around the house and at my kids homes. I really wanted the other brand cordless model, but since my kids had bought me a Milwaukee drill and driver, and I have 4-4a HD batteries, I didn't want to start with another battery series.
But I'm glad I got it!
This saw works and feels great!
I'm not building houses everyday, but recently I had to cut maybe 20 pieces of wood to cut (2x3's and 2x4's4's, some paneling and shelving (1x10) and rather than dragging out the cord saw, I snapped in a battery (which is over a year old now) and cut away with the blade that came with the saw. Not one let up in power, and I think I cut have easy cut another 20 pieces of wood without a problem. The saw is light, but the battery does add some weight, but that's not a knock, just an observation.
My only knock...wish this would have come with a bag or some type of carrying case.

Q. #1 does it come with a battery?

Q. #2 does the charger for the Drill (12V) and Recip Saw (12v) also charge the 18V skill saw?

Hate to have to buy a battery and a charger...to go w/ my Millwakee drill and sabre saw
Dan on Jul 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it doesn't come with a battery. No, a 12 volt charger wont charge a 18 volt battery. There are multi volt chargers. You can buy a M 18 with a battery and charger or buy the saw as a bare tool and buy a 18 volt battery and a multi volt charger, witch ever is cheaper.
Can it take the ion lithium compact batteries
mnchiefc on Sep 30, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Be careful what you say...it does NOT take the M18 batteries

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
