Love it!
This battery is so far and away better than the two NiCads that the 18V Drill/Driver kit came with, I couldn't believe it! It charges fast, has great power and the LED power level indicator is really useful. Where as the NiCads would not store their charge well between uses, the Li-Ion always is ready for use. I especially liked that the battery was "downward compatable" to my older model tool. The only compromise was that the battery would not store in the carry case in the space allocated for the NiCad battery. I modified the case - I will not give up my Li-Ion battery!

Disappointed in longeviety
I have 9 of these batteries and the built in service info shows no more than 200 charges before repeated failure at the 2 - 3 year level. Pro-rata warranty is complete rip-off. Cold weather performance is dismal below 55' if the batteries are not brought to room temp first. I have had nothing but Milwaukee 18v tools since August of 2004 and found the 2.4 AH NiMH batteries to be their best. I'm very disappointed in the V*18 3.0 AH batteries....They have been a very poor investment.I will not buy any more.

Milwaukee Does it First, Again.
These batteries run tools wayyy better than NiCad batteries. First they're lighter, next they provide near-full power to the very end w/o that "tapering" effect we saw with NiCad. The fuel gauge is a huge help. The fact that these batteries retro fit NiCad generation tools is really a great thing for all of us that have the solid NiCad tools with the not-so-solid NiCad batteries. Milwaukee was the first to introduce Lithium Ion technology to power tool batteries and they did it well with the V18 line.

Real Milwaukee quality
Great battery that outshines that old Ni-Cad battery. It costs some bucks, so I am hoping that it will last at least as long as the old Ni-Cad. For battery durability.. I used my old 18V drill in hammer mode to core bore a 2 1/4 hole in my brick wall. Then through the OSB all on a single charge! The Ni-Cad battery will last only long enough to get the bit started in the brick. So, yeah, it's kind of expensive, but Tyler sells them well below MSRP. Well worth replacing your old Ni-Cads gradually.

How do I charge this battery? 48-11-1830
My Milwaukee drills and saw and light are great. Used a lot.
My charger has stopped working. #48-59-2818.
Out of 3 batteries, one being 4 months old, has always given me great service.
I have had these tools since around 1999.
So, I'm looking for another charger or where do I send mine and get it fixed?

My battery is new and does not work. Can a return it for a new one?
Bob on Jul 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't fully understand Bob's question. In my mind there could be 3
possible problems with this battery. (1) it could be the wrong type of
battery for the tool he is trying to use it on (i.e. there are several
different "bayonet slide" configurations for different 18V tools; (2) the
new battery could need to be charged before it's first use, or (3) it simply
could be a bad battery.
