I've used it twice for drilling and driving.
It replaced a 20 year old Milwaukee 18V hammer drill/driver that I used and abused a lot over the years. It has more than twice the torque and lithium batteries v the ni-cads the old one had. It's lighter. I imagine that if I push it to stall, the side handle will be needed.

The differences are:
The old one would stall and start up again, much like a 120V drill. The new one stalls and kills power. You have to release and pull the trigger again.

The chuck clicks when you turn it where the old one just turned.

There are less clutch settings. When it clutches out, it stops where the old one would keep turning and lightly impact the screw you are driving.

The new one is much lighter. And smaller. I bought a 19" tool bag for the drill/driver and the impact gun. Both fit with the charger and two batteries, plus the drill bit kit and the driver bit kit.

I assume the new one will run longer on the 3 hour batteries I bought for it. And hold a charge when not in use unlike the ni-cads.

Lots of improvements. We'll see how much I like it a year from now.

Milwaukee tools are great
I was a practicing electrician and tradesman many years ago and became very familiar with the Milwaukee line of tools. At that time, there were very few challengers in that quality level of tools, and they were the best. Today there are a few that are close, but I believe Milwaukee tools remain at the top. So when I moved into my new-used home, I wanted tools that were reliable and that would last, and that would allow me to do the major work that I am capable of. Of course, Milwaukee came to mind. Further, I wanted tools that did not require extension cords or fuels. M18 seemed to float to the top again, as the variety of tools available to be used on the same battery was outstanding and I could equip my workshop with everything I needed and only need one type of battery. I have many of the M18 series tools. I think they are all excellent. But the M18 Fuel is even better in size, weight, power, and quality. With my M18 tools, I am confident that I can take on almost any task. I standardized on the M18 battery, so I can minimize charging and maximize the use of fewer batteries. You pay for quality, but CPO reconditioned tools make it so I can get the tools that I want at a better price. I have used CPO reconditioned tools for many years and have never had a problem. All tools have looked like and worked like a brand new tool. I highly recommend CPO as well as Milwaukee tools.

Close but not quite
Nice tool but there’s a problem with the electronics that keeps it from developing full torque consistently. I’ve had lots of success with refurbed tools in the past but this one is going back.
