Milwaukee refurb Rotary Hammer like new
I am a DIY user and needed a rotary hammer. After reading numerous contractor reviews I ordered the Milwaukee 5262 online with coupon and free shipping. Arrived fast and well packaged. When opening the included molded carrying case the tool looked new or nearly new. Tested it immediately and the hammer drill function is powerful and bores through homeowner concrete like butter. I highly recommend for the DIYer.

I've done a few small jobs so far, nothing major. But this is a great tool so far. Works great, it's a time saver. Less work for yourself by using it as well. Equals more production y less time. Pays by itself. Why 4* and not 5*, it comes without bits. If u buy 3 bits it's just like getting a brand new combo/tool with bits included. Overall tool it's great. The deal I would consider a brand new.

Should have bought one a long time ago
Had to drill two 2.5 dia holes through a brick wall. Not knowing any better I drilled half the first one with a regular hammer drill. Stripped the gears on it. Bought this to replace it. SDS goes through brick like a hot knife thru butter.
One of the best tools I ever bought.

Should have bought one decades ago!
I always used my hand drill with a concrete bit for the occasional need to sink screws in cement. With my recent remodel of a 40 year old home with an unfinished basement, I was burning through concrete bits on the seasoned & hardened basement floors & walls. I purchased the Milwaukee SDS hammer drill & it drills through concrete like it's wood. I'm still using the same SDS bit & at the rate I'm going, I'll pay for the hammer drill from the money I'm saving in standard carbide bits. Plus, each hole drilled takes a small fraction of the time my hand drill took.

Good Value rotary hammer
It's a nice tool for a good price, especially if you're buying the reconditioned one. So far it's pounded out holes in concrete like a champ. I don't know if this would be your top choice if all you did was drill concrete, but for the occasional hole that needs to be drilled it's a good choice to have available in your toolkit instead of running down to the rental house.
The only complaint, and in all fairness it's possible I haven't set it up right but, the depth limit rod doesn't hold it's position under pressure so it can't be trusted as a real stop if the accuracy of the depth of the hole is critical.

I'm trying to make a log bed. Will this drill handle a 2" wood bit?
Grizz on Jan 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No this is an SDS+ drill, so standard drils will not work, unless you buy an SDS chuck. At that point this is a very long drill. Suggest you just use a regular high powered drill
Does it come in its carrying case
Nine on Jul 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Item does come with carrying case.
does it come with bits ?
Mike M on Jul 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Not the one I purchased. But CPO sells sets that work with this tool
Milwaukee does not make or sell a Model 5262-81. Only CPO and Tyler list this model number. The manual on your web site is for the older 5262-20 model and that is a 7Amp 7/8 inch bit capacity model. What exactly is the 5262-81 model? Should be listed as 5262-21 recon if that is what it is.
sweedld on Oct 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Model 5262-81 is the reconditioned model and 5262-21 will be the new SDS Plus Rotary Hammer.
What is the overall length of this drill ?
A shopper on Sep 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Milwaukee 5262-81 is 17in long
for small tapcons is this better than hammer drill ?
Ian w on Mar 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, if space limitations allow it's use. This tool is nearly 24 inches long with a modest length sds bit.
can this drill be used with regular drill bits?
Fred on Jul 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No. You would want to use sds bits.
What type of drill/chisel does this use. Is it the Milwaukee special insert to chuck set?
dann on Jan 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This tool uses a SDS-Plus styled chuck.
When selecting the demolition function (chisel) the bit is not supposed to rotate. Mine does, like a lock isn't engaging anymore-I do hear a rattle when I rotate it. Anybody know which part to replace for this?
Arvin on Apr 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Please contact the manufacturer directly for technical assistance at 800-729-3878.
WHAT IS THE GROSS WEIGHT OF THIS DRILL , AND BRING YOUR CASE THIS MODEL ? 7/8" SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Kit
reysano on Jan 25, 2015

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
