Awesome little pack a punch hanmerdrill
Awesome gun backed by 5 year warranty. This little guy drills all the way up to 3/4 hole and as en electrician that's most of the time all you need, if you need any bigger to make holes for pipes then you obviously use company tools but this little guy drills all the holes you need with a 4amp battery you can drill many holes without having to recharge

It's a great and powerful light weight tool.
Just suggest that would be fine if it has a clip for belt

Packs a punch for its size.
I can drill 1/4” anchor holes all day and 1/2” anchor holes almost all day with this tool. Lightweight, but robust. This is a contractor-grade tool without the mass.

Not bad for only 12v
Very surprised that it did as well as it did for 12 volt. Very light. Pretty quick charge.
Downside was only one battery as opposed to competitors and no bits. Batteries not cheap and you will have to buy an extra right off the bat.

The right tool for limited number of holes
-Not limited by power (when used correctly
-Lightweight, easily portable
-Can be used one-handed

-Eats through batteries
-Not forgiving of pushing too hard (cuts out)
-No non-rotating hammer mode

I install drive through machines in banks which require them to be anchored into the concrete curb islands. I used to use my normal hammer drill, and it would take me something like 3 minutes per hole and the bit would be worn out by the end of the job (Bosch Daredevil concrete bits, not even the cheap ones). Some islands are fresh basic concrete, some are old chert-filled security concrete from the 30's, and some definitely put up more of a fight.

I got this rotary hammer prior to an especially big install requiring twenty-two 3/8" holes in new concrete down to about an inch. I think I had them all drilled in 5 minutes. The right tool for the job sure makes a difference. I used about 2/3 of the included 4.0 Ah battery to do so.

The tendency, at least at first until you get used to it, is to lean on the back of the drill to put as much load into the concrete as possible. This overheats the battery and the motor and results in the drill turning itself off for a moment. If you just hold it steady, the tool will do the work for you and you don't end up exhausted.

At 5/8" hammer stroke length, this is not the fastest drill of its type, and combined with the relatively short battery life, especially in harder or older concrete, lends this tool more for specific and sporadic use, rather than for making a foundation slab into Swiss cheese all day. It fits about the same niche as all the other M12 lineup, perfectly functional tools that trade a little raw performance for light weight, compact size, and usability. It only weighs a little more than a normal high power hand drill, and is balanced well enough to be used one-handed if necessary. The vibrations from the tool, while loud enough to warrant ear protection, are not so severe your hands go numb by the time the battery is dead. It's an uneventful tool to use.

The last thing I would mention is I often miss the ability to use this as a power chisel. The lack of a non-rotary mode comes to mind relatively frequently every time I need to level a rough spot on the curb island or knock a big hold in brick. This would be an ideal tool for chisel work on top of a ladder, but I end up resorting to standard SDS drill bits and doing my best to poke enough holes I can chisel around them by hand. I don't understand the complexity of adding that third mode, but it would absolutely be worth more money to me.

I see hammer and hammer rotation. And I see rotation only and hammer rotation. Which one is correct?
Steve on Feb 10, 2015

Rotation only means the chuck spins left to right or right to left in an oscillation like a drill. Hammer rotation means that the chuck rotates and also pushes in and out, like a hammer. Hammer only means the chuck moves up and down but no rotation.
I usually use a cordless hammer drill for small tapcons, (3/16 or 1/4 by 1 3/4 inches) but I was wondering if this would be a faster/easier option or if it's just overkill to get this.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, the SDS rotary hammer would be a faster/easier option

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
