Product Overview

The Milwaukee 3/8 in. Cordless M12 Lithium-Ion Ratchet features best in class power, speed, and durability in a small yet powerful package. Its durable motor provides 35 ft-lbs. of torque at 250 RPM to handle most jobs with ease, and its compact design gives the user better maneuverability in smaller, tighter work spaces. A metal variable speed trigger gives the user precise speed control for any application, and since it's powered by Milwaukee's REDLITHIUM technology, it also runs with a longer lifespan for more use and less charging. The ratchet is built with reinforced housing for extra durability, and also comes equipped with a built-ion LED to light dimly lit work areas and a built-in battery fuel gauge that displays the remaining run time.

A must have tool
I do all my own car repairs (4 cars) so I'm doing some sort of maintainence regularly as well as some major repairs. I was sceptical of the power and how long a charge would last but after reading many reviews I needed to give it a try. I love the function of an air ratchet but hate the noise so I never use mine. This tool is amazing! It has plenty of power for what its supposed to do. Its not supposed to break tightened bolts loose, its supposed to spin nuts and bolts on and off with having to swing a ratchet back and forth. In my opinion, the comments I've read in some places about not having enough power are a non issue. With most motors and parts being made of aluminum the last thing you want is a tool cabable of snapping a bolt or stripping out a thread. You can use it as a manual ratchet to break a fastener loose and then hit the trigger! This thing has made working on cars (especially in tight spaces where you cant ratchet more that a fraction of a turn) much easier and faster. You can work all day on a charge without a problem. For those willing to shell out 3 times the money to a guy on a tool truck for a product with less warranty, more power to you. With a 5 year warranty at this price, you cant go wrong.

Must have tool!!!
The tool does what it's supposed to do at a great price. It's a ratchet like an air ratchet. It's not an impact gun. It makes working on cars faster and easier. A battery will last all day without a problem. I did my timing belt and water pump and used it for most every fastener and the battery still showed a half charge

M12 cordless ratchet
I work in a ATV, motorcycle shop and require the use of an air ratchet a lot. I purchased the Milwaukee cordless 3/8 ratchet because one another mechanic in the shop has been using one now for a year without any issues at all. I really like not having to drag the air hose around. Not as strong as the air ratchet but you know that so choose your spots. Now I use the cordless 90% of the time.

A boon to those tired of banged and skinned knuckles
Recently I put together a portable saw stand that used "Nylock" nuts. Even though I liked the fact that the fasteners would reach a certain set tightness and wouldn't come loose, there was still a lot of "wrenching" to reach that goal. I'm well into my seventies and given that my skin and hands are definitely not what they used to be, tools like this make it so much easier to do things that in the past I wouldn't have been too concerned about. The tool is advertised at 35 foot pounds of maximum torque, no doubt achieved by the built in impactor mechanism, which is more than adequate for most tasks, if more is required traditional methods of torque requirements can be applied. The head is actually smaller in size than a typical 3/8" ratchet drive, has a variable speed range with a large 3" lock out lever trigger control, and with the bright LED light it's a huge plus for small dark corners. Even if my hands were back the way they once were, this would still be a "go to tool" for my shop!

Great tool! Perfect to replace air tools
I purchased this for a guy that works across the shop from me in a dealership. I personally own both the 3/8 and the 1/4 version of this tool. Just like myself, this guy loves the tool. It has COMPLETELY eliminated the use of my 1/4 air ratchet and my 3/8 air only gets used when there is an extremely stubborn bolt. The only slight gripe would be that the speed could be a little faster. When compared to an air ratchet, these are pretty slow. But, you get used to it and it actually allows for a little better control. The 1/4 has more than enough power, and the 3/8 is enough for most task. Love these tools!

This is one of my top 5 tools.
I have been a mechanic for over 30 years. The cordless tools are the best things to come along in a long time. When I started to look for a cordless ratchet, price and respectable name brand where the 2 most important factors. I tried the Snap On and Mac cordless ratchets. The physical size of both are twice the size of the Milwaukee and 4 times the price. I wanted a cordless ratchet to get into small places and this one I feel is the best on the market. The only draw back about this tool is the kind of low power. I say this because I am comparing it to the Snap On and Mac. Both are 18 ish volts and this is 12 volt. If you are going to buy this ratchet, you need to compare it to using a 6-7 inch long hand ratchet. The Snap On and Mac are like using a 14 inch long hand ratchet. This one gets into much smaller places and is vary easy to control. If the bolt is to tight, I just brake it loose by hand and get it the rest of the way with this ratchet. I have been using this ratchet for over a year now and have had no trouble with it. I love this tool and I use it almost every day. Being able to get into tight areas is the best thing about this tool. It makes up for the little less power than the other brands.
I just bought the Milwaukee 3/8" drive M18 impact. Had to buy the 12/18 volt charger. So if you think you will ever buy another Milwaukee cordless tool you need to get the 12/18 volt charger so you can have a charger for both batteries.

when I take a bolt off and I need to turn it harder than 35 foot lbs how hard can I turn it , using like a breaker bar in foot lbs before breaking M12 ratchet
Thomas Balch on Sep 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Milwaukee 2457-20 is rated to 35 ft/lbs of torque
After you hit the maximum torque when tightening a bolt or nut can you then use the tool manually to tighten it further?
Can you use the tool manually to break bolts free?
T&D Electric on Apr 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can. I use this ratchet on a daily basis. And I tighten the bolts like any other ratchet. Still going strong. I love Milwaukee.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
