Milwaukee 2840-20 2 Gallon Oil-Free Hand Carry Air Compressor

Details
With a pump that outputs only 68 dBA of noise while running, the M18 FUEL 2-Gallon Compact Quiet Air Compressor (2840-20) is the quietest cordless compressor on the market. Designed to meet the needs of remodelers, cabinetmakers and the home shop, this portable compressor delivers 1.2 CFM at 90 PSI and enough runtime to drive up to 1600 18 Ga. brad nails on a single M18 REDLITHIUM Lithium-Ion battery charge (battery sold separately). A quick-connect coupler allows users to change hoses with ease, while the single-turn regulator easily adjusts for the pressure required by the connected tool. A steel roll cage protects the motor, pump and 2-Gallon tank, while the carrying handle helps users carry this battery powered compressor on and off the job. The cordless air compressor is also great for inflating tires and recreational equipment, especially in spots where power is not accessible.

Good compressor (once I got it to run)
I bought this to use as a portable air source to inflate tires and run small air tools. I'm impressed with how light it is and how quiet as well.
When the compressor arrived it would not run at all. I tried three different batteries with no luck so I went to the Milwaukee web site and filled out a warranty request form. That was a week ago and still no response from Milwaukee. Very Disappointing. So. . . after a couple of days I decided to see if I could see any obvious problems. I found a wire that had become disconnected from it's respective quick connect terminal.
The tool now runs perfectly and so far I'm impressed with the output and battery life. I started with a small (4 Ah) battery and inflated two very large backhoe tires, which happened quickly and only took about 1/2 of the small battery's capacity.
Other than being disappointed with Milwaukee's lack of help, I really like the compressor. Seems like it is very well made.

Great functionality, portability, quality and utility.
Having used this compressor with a Bostitch SB 2-in-1 18ga finish nailer/stapler on some repair projects at about 95 PSI, I found the compressor to get up to pressure and operate through about a strip and a half of 3/4 inch staples before cycling back on again for about two minutes. One thing I haven't seen mentioned on any reviews is that Milwaukee missed placing rubber feet below the carrying handle side of the frame. So, when carrying the compressor by the installed carry handle, to set it down, it sits directly on the painted steel frame. I put some protective grip tape on the contact points when it is set down on the ground to prevent damage to the steel frame/roll-cage. While this is a minor "miss" on the designers' part, it was not enough to knock off a star on this awesome tool for those of us who still love our "air-powered" nailers and other pneumatic tools. If Milwaukee adds these protective "feet" on the set-down side of the frame, many users will have less issues with paint scraping off and subsequent corrosion on the very important roll cage (especially in coastal areas where marine air and metal corrosion can become an issue more quickly than in more arid or dry climates). Thanks for reading and thank you to Milwaukee for this great addition to the M18 line!

Can it power a framing nailer?
Chuck on May 19, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It is not recommended to use larger nailers, including framing and roofing nailers, with this compressor. Large nailers require a higher CFM, and performance from your nailers will not live up to your expectations when powered by this compressor. The M18 FUEL compressor works best with smaller fastening guns such as brad nailers, pin nailers and finish staplers.
I am looking at this compressor for airing the tires on my RV which are over 100 psi. What is the highest psi this will reach for a tire?
A shopper on Jun 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The M18 FUEL Compressor delivers a maximum of 135 PSI. It's a great companion for your RV!
What is the duty cycle?
A shopper on Jun 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The M18 FUEL Compressor delivers a 100% duty cycle.
Is this compressor decent for texture?
A shopper on May 16, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The M18 FUEL Compressor may be an option for patch work, but it would not be recommended for spraying texture over large areas. A compressor with a larger tank is ideal for spray applications.
Ac power or just battery?
Nate H on Sep 13, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Just battery. Works all day quite amazing!
Will a roofing nail gun run on this compressor?
A shopper on Oct 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: would only use it to do roof repairs. I don’t believe it would keep up trying to shingle a new complete roof.
